Shopify Commercial Reviews

Strategic Shopify reviews informed by real customer behaviour, designed to uncover friction, improve clarity and help Shopify brands perform more effectively online.

Focused on product discovery, UX, merchandising, conversion and the commercial layer behind premium ecommerce experiences.

Built around customer behaviour

Most website reviews are based on opinion. Mine begin with evidence.

Before making recommendations, I spend two weeks analysing how real customers browse, search, hesitate and buy using behavioural analytics alongside Shopify and GA4 data.

Only then do I review the structure, merchandising and customer experience to identify where your store is quietly losing sales.

Every recommendation is supported by one of three things:

  • Observed customer behaviour
  • Commercial data
  • Professional judgement built from nearly 25 years in ecommerce

The strongest recommendations are where all three align.

Who These Reviews Are For

These reviews are best suited to established Shopify brands that already have a strong foundation, but feel there is a gap between how the business presents itself and how effectively the website performs commercially.

In many cases, the issue is not traffic or product quality. It is clarity, hierarchy, discovery or friction quietly affecting the customer journey.
The brand may feel premium, considered and well-positioned, but the ecommerce experience underneath is not fully supporting it.

I typically work with founder-led and design-conscious businesses that care about both aesthetics and performance. Brands preparing to scale marketing, invest in a redesign or improve conversion often use these reviews to gain strategic clarity before committing further time or budget.

These reviews are not intended for early-stage DIY stores, basic theme setup support or generic technical audits. The focus is on commercially refining established ecommerce experiences through thoughtful analysis, UX judgement and long-term strategic thinking.

How the review works

1. Observe

For around two weeks I analyse real customer behaviour using Microsoft Clarity, Shopify analytics and Google Analytics.

I look for hesitation, confusion, dead clicks, navigation loops, abandoned journeys and missed commercial opportunities.

2. Interpret

Watching recordings isn’t the skill.

Understanding why customers behave the way they do is.

This is where nearly 25 years designing and optimising ecommerce experiences becomes valuable.

3. Prioritise

Not every issue deserves fixing.

Recommendations are prioritised according to commercial impact, implementation effort and supporting evidence.

4. Conclude

Many clients follow the review with a Shopify CRO Sprint, allowing the highest-priority improvements to be implemented immediately.

Example Observations

A small election of observations taken from recent Shopify commercial reviews.

These are the kinds of structural, UX and commercial patterns often quietly affecting ecommerce performance.

Navigation & Discovery

“The customer expects expertise, but is left to browse like a general retail site.”

A strong brand position was being weakened by generic product discovery and catalogue-style navigation.

Commercial UX

“The site looks like a boutique, but behaves like a brochure.”

The visual identity was strong, but key commercial actions and product pathways lacked clarity and intent.

Collection Page UX

“Filters should support discovery, not block it.”

Collection pages were prioritising interface elements over product visibility, creating unnecessary friction on mobile.

Product Hierarchy

“A £600 jacket should feel like specialist equipment. Right now, it feels like a catalogue listing.”

The product pages contained the right information, but lacked hierarchy, context and confidence at the point of purchase.

Strategic Review Options

Whether you need a fast commercial perspective or a deeper strategic review, the following two options are designed to uncover friction, improve clarity and identify opportunities for growth.

Option 2

Shopify Commercial Behaviour Review

From £1,500

A deeper strategic review for established ecommerce brands looking to improve conversion, customer experience and long-term commercial performance.

This is a structured consultancy engagement rather than a surface-level audit.

Includes

  • Behavioural findings supported by session recordings
  • Annotated screenshots
  • Prioritised recommendations
  • Quick wins and strategic improvements
  • Optional implementation roadmap

Outcome

A detailed strategic review designed to help premium Shopify brands understand where friction, confusion or missed commercial opportunities may be limiting performance.
