Shopify Migration for
Qwickhose
A well-handled Shopify migration protects continuity while setting a business up for its next phase.
Qwickhose is a British brand specialising in precision-engineered quick-connect hose fittings, trusted by gardeners, makers and professionals who value reliability and simplicity. The project focused on migrating their existing WordPress website to Shopify, ensuring customer data, order history and products were transferred cleanly, while supporting the brand through a re-theme following a recent internal rebrand.
The priority was stability, clarity and future readiness rather than reinventing the catalogue or overcomplicating the experience.

The Challenge
The existing WordPress site had become limiting from a platform and maintenance perspective. While the product range itself was focused and specialist, the site was not well suited to ongoing optimisation, marketing activity or scaling e-commerce operations.
Key challenges included safely migrating existing customers and historical orders, preserving SEO value during the transition, and implementing a refreshed visual direction that aligned with Qwickhose’s internal rebrand without introducing unnecessary complexity.
The move needed to feel seamless for existing customers while improving the experience behind the scenes for the team.
The Approach
Rather than treating the migration as a purely technical exercise, the project focused on continuity and long-term usability. Shopify was selected for its reliability, performance and ease of management, giving Qwickhose a platform that could evolve without constant technical intervention.
The existing product structure was respected, with light UX refinements to improve clarity and confidence where needed, but without forcing unnecessary information architecture changes onto a small, specialist range.
The theme was then customised to support the updated brand direction, keeping the interface clean, purposeful and aligned with the quality of the products.

Shopify Migration
The website was fully migrated from WordPress to Shopify, including:
• Products and collections
• Existing customer accounts
• Historical order data
• URL structure and redirects to protect SEO
Care was taken to ensure data integrity throughout the migration and to minimise disruption for both customers and internal workflows. Performance, security and scalability were prioritised as part of the setup.

UX and Theme Refinement
While the product range did not require heavy information architecture work, the buying experience benefited from subtle UX improvements. Product pages and navigation were refined to feel clearer and more confident, supporting quick decision-making without over-explaining.
The re-theme aligned the site with Qwickhose’s recent internal rebrand, ensuring the visual presentation matched the precision and quality of the engineering without introducing unnecessary embellishment.
Outcome
The result is a faster, more robust Shopify website that supports Qwickhose’s day-to-day operations and future growth. The team now has a platform that is easier to manage internally, better suited to SEO and marketing, and flexible enough to evolve over time.
For me, the project reinforced the importance of restraint during migrations. When the product range is already strong, the real value lies in platform choice, data continuity and execution quality rather than structural overreach.
